Black & Brown Skin-Are They Passé In The Glam World
Whenever you watch a fashion show, live or in television, you may see all blondes and milky white bodies parading their stuff on the ramp. Rarely do you get a chance to see black beauties. Even brown skins are rare. So, are black models slowly vanishing from the fashion and modeling scene?
Do European lands prefer blondes to brunettes? Even the fashion scenes in Middle East countries are clueless about the absence of brown and black models from the runaways. Dubai models are chosen from around the world. But, the percentage of beautiful black models is definitely on the decline. According to New York Times, the black female and male models are literally disappearing from fashion shows all over the world.
It is hinted that exhibition hostesses or coordinators scrutinize the application forms and reject the African and Asian models. Even if model agents with hold the racial status of any model, they get scolded by the designers for doing so. Super Models such as Naomi Campbell recently remarked that women of colour are no longer trendy in fashion circuits, a harsh but bitter truth. The New York runaway scenario is usually lined with pale, skinny bodies rather than healthier brown models.
Choosing models on basis of their racial colour is indecent and intimidating. There are scores of talented Asian and African models in fashion circuits, but most of them bear the brunt of racism in the seemingly beautiful world of fashion.
